Can anyone explain why the cost of lumber has double in price since the beginning of the year? I don’t know why and I would like to know

The cost for lumber has more than doubled. Every time a stimulus check is issued, the price for lumber goes up. Some say the hurricane that wiped out part of Lake Charles is partially to blame, others say the shutdowns from last year are to blame. Both of those reasons may have contributed, but the real reason for the increase in price is the free money being distributed to consumers.

And not to hijack your lumber question, but college tuitions skyrocketed when the Federal government started backing student loans. The schools get paid whatever they charge because students willingly borrow tens of thousands of dollars for any kind of nonsense … like this lady:

I guarantee you the school got paid their 6 years of “Diversity and Inclusion” tuition. Same thing with the lumber … you’re getting a fat stimmy, yes? No more two dollar 2×4’s for you …

BIG part is demand is high people are moving out of cities to the country we started with a contractor to build a smaller home 8 months ago and the price of lumber has gone up 3 times since then we may not build now due to cost…

Superballs grew some hair on the above post, which I completely agree on.  Once the government gets involved in any private arena through subsidies or perks, it explains how the government disperses the taxpayer monies into the constituents’ portfolios.  Remember, you pay taxes, they [the government disperses it] waste it.  Then they spend billions on a narrative to fool at the mush-minded lemmings to pull a voter poll lever on election day.  Feel good emotional peeps without a calculator or pencil in logic.

2×2=art but bailout x9 mom=dad, divided by knitting class, owe $50K a year cuz airconditioning and safe space with braids [optional] but a minority labouring said stuff = owe me.  Marching insurance, gas masks and I broke our main street windows and collective relationship with the community which was suffering to begin with … #faukUrichCapitolist [sp cuz can’t spell] go for it.  #NikesheitChina?

      Ample math exercise.

I like math … pre-plandemic and the start of stimulus distributions, an untreated, #2 pine 2×4 was about 2 bucks. If you received about 10K in “stimulus” money, then you can buy about 5000 2x4s, right? Nope … the price for a 2×4 is now about 7 bucks.

So now you can only buy about 1430 2x4s … in the span of a single year your 10K is actually worth about 3K based only on the price of that single consumer product. Have you seen what the price for a new truck is lately?

It was a lot of things really. Most notably the shutdown and stimulus checks. One of the great promises of communism: you pay people to not work, and suddenly the money is worth nothing. An prime example is Venezuela.

Raw materials seem to be getting hit first. The rest of the economy will follow. I can speak from my field of experience. Building projects have all but frozen. No new houses means the real estate market is tighter. Housing prices are going up more rapidly as houses are getting competed over. I’m sure if inflation is allowed to slow, things will correct, and new conatruction will resume, and a new threshold will be established. Dems like this though, I don’t know that this hyper inflation will be allowed to end.

Just remember God helps those who help themselves because we do bettrr when we meet him halfway.

We stand together because otherwise, we don't stand at all.
